County staff asks to sign off on plats; commissioners warn against removing public hearing step

"I think it's important to retain an open meeting step for a major plat," one planning official said, noting major plats can require road dedication, new construction or affect neighbors' access. Legal staff and commissioners recommended the requester identify specific ordinance language that must change before the commission could cede any authority.
Next steps: staff were asked to draft proposed amendments to the subdivision ordinance identifying which steps could be delegated and to return with language that preserves due public notice and opportunities for comment.
