Summary
The district music leader described March music-month activities, school musicals, lobby concerts and a large district-wide concert celebrating Weston’s 250th; parents and board members were encouraged to consult the district performing arts calendar for dates.
Liz Morris, curriculum and instruction leader for music, told the curriculum subcommittee on April 1 that March’s Music in Our Schools Month offered events across elementary through high school and a standout district-wide concert tied to Weston’s 250th anniversary.
Morris described building-level events such as morning musical moments, an intermediate-school musical and a middle-school 'Music March Madness' bracket. The district convened students from multiple grades for a mid‑month district concert, combining choir, band and orchestra performances into a large program the music director described as “really special.”
The music team is also coordinating with townwide 250th celebrations and is publishing dates on a centralized performing-arts calendar on the district website to reduce scheduling overlap. Chair (speaker 2) and members encouraged broader community outreach to publicize concerts, including sending calendars to the senior center and coordinating with Park & Rec and the Weston Education Foundation for promotion and fundraising.
