The Royal Oak DDA approved a $10,750 design‑phase contract with Ideation Orange to refresh downtown wayfinding and produce schematic designs, a prototype and implementation estimates.
Staff framed the work as a design phase that includes asset gathering, interviews, site surveys and up to four presentations. "If you think about breaking the project up into a design phase and then an implementation phase, this is the design phase," staff said, and noted the firm will provide a prototype and an implementation estimate at the end of the design work.
Directors asked for ongoing board involvement and for the infrastructure committee to consider periodic wayfinding reviews so kiosks and signage stay current. The board moved and approved the resolution to begin the design work; staff will return with a budget for implementation once schematic design and prototype reviews are complete.
