MANOR ISD board approves HR hire and appoints Lakisha Small to fill trustee vacancy

At its March 30 meeting the MANOR ISD Board of Trustees approved hiring Rochelle Bond as director of human resources, voted 5–1 to appoint Lakisha Small to a vacant Place 2 trustee seat, and recorded a separate unanimous action relating to a teacher resignation. The MANOR ISD Board of Trustees approved multiple personnel actions at its March 30 meeting, including hiring Rochelle Bond as director of human resources and appointing Lakisha Small to fill the Place 2 board vacancy.
A trustee moved that the board accept administration’s recommendation to hire Rochelle Bond; the motion was seconded and passed 6–0. Bond, who was in the audience, stood to be recognized after the vote.
Separately, Trustee Rodriguez Barnett moved to appoint Lakisha Small to fill the Place 2 vacancy “to serve until the next trustee election in accordance with Texas law.” Trustee Patterson seconded the motion. The board recorded a 5–1 vote in favor and invited Small to stand and be welcomed by trustees.
Earlier in the meeting the board considered personnel related to an educator resignation. A trustee moved “that the board approve there’s not good cause to support Courtney Jackson’s resignation” (language recorded as stated in the meeting). That motion was seconded and passed 6–0.
All motions and votes were taken during the open session portion following the board’s executive session; the board confirmed its next regular meeting is scheduled for April 20, 2026.
