Police Chief Ace reported the department handled 2,428 calls for service in February, including 35 traffic crashes and six DUI arrests; officers issued 109 citations and 393 warnings. He noted promotions within the department, awards for officers from local service clubs, FDOT grant-supported traffic enforcement and plans to replace retiring K‑9 Cody in July.
Fire Chief Webster reported 153 emergency responses last month, zero overdose incidents during the period, ongoing CPR education for childcare providers, and a recent hire for division chief of administrative services and training (Steve Fessler). Webster said recruitment and testing are underway to bring staffing to full capacity.
Council thanked both departments for their reports; members asked follow-up questions about school-zone enforcement and speed studies during the police report.
