At the March 16 council meeting West Bend swore in four new firefighter‑paramedics and the police department recognized citizens whose actions and calls helped save lives and remove impaired drivers from roads.
The West Bend Common Council on March 16 administered oaths of office to four firefighter‑paramedics and publicly recognized several citizens for lifesaving and safety‑reporting actions.
Chief Noran described the department’s hiring process and introduced the four candidates who took the oath: Luke Aman (paramedic with 20 years' experience, most recently a paramedic/HEO in Brookfield), Joseph Duwell (final semester at Fox Valley Technical College; EMT‑basic and hazardous‑materials technician), Nicholas Reichelt (West Bend native, ER technician and volunteer firefighter, U.S. Army veteran) and Andrew Wolf (West Bend area native completing paramedic schooling and a U.S. Air Force firefighter veteran). The Clerk administered the oaths; Chief Noran said the four have approximately one week of remaining training and are expected to start duty the following week.
Police Chief Dearing presented citizen recognition awards. He recounted by name several interventions: Patrick Prescott and Tracy Hawkinson used an AED and CPR to revive an unresponsive man at Vortex Pickleball; Nicole Davis reported an impaired driver at West Paradise Drive and Highway 45 leading to an arrest and the seizure of 7 grams of fentanyl and 2 grams of crack cocaine; Wade Wagenkenick reported juveniles attempting vehicle entry, and Pamela Parcham assisted a distraught assault victim and called police. Chief Dearing said the community’s quick action and the dispatchers’ emergency‑medical guidance saved lives and kept roadways safer.
Mayor Ken congratulated the new hires and thanked award recipients for their service to the community.
