A partner with Crowe LLC told the North Las Vegas City Council on Nov. 19 that the firm issued an unmodified opinion on the city's financial statements for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025.
"We have issued an unmodified opinion, which is excellent news," Kathy Lai said, reading the financial-statement audit results and noting the statements are fairly stated in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
City finance director Will Riggs said the audit differs from prior years because the federal single-audit (the schedule of federal financial assistance) cannot be released until the federal government issues its compliance supplement. "As soon as we get that compliance supplement released, we can then get the single audit released to the city," Riggs said, adding that this year the city completed the audit without needing a state extension.
Lai also said Crowe identified no material corrected or uncorrected misstatements and confirmed the firm's independence. Council members thanked staff for the work; Council member Ron moved to receive the audit and the motion passed.
The presentation highlighted cooperative work across finance, capital projects, grants and utilities staff; the council congratulated staff for the "clean" findings. The transcript does not include a roll-call vote tally for the receipt of the audit.
