Residents raise privacy and safety concerns as North Las Vegas council approves Lone Mountain rezoning

The North Las Vegas City Council voted Dec. 17 to approve AMP 10-20-25 and adopt Ordinance No. 3263 (ZN 10-20-25), reclassifying a parcel on East Lone Mountain Road from neighborhood commercial (C-1) to single-family low-density (R-1).
Residents who live immediately south of the site told the council they opposed the change. “I lived in North Las Vegas for over 20 years,” said Linda Merkel of 609 Agate Ridge Drive, who told council members she has experienced foundation cracking in the area and warned the site’s clay soils could cause similar problems for future homeowners.
