Johnson also noted the city has invested $920,000 in education microgrants over four years. Winners were invited to join Mayor Pamela Goins Brown and the council at the front of chambers to receive recognition and celebratory certificates.
Council members and the mayor praised educators and staff for supporting students and said the grants are an example of targeted local investment in classroom innovation.
