At its Feb. 11 meeting the North Las Vegas Planning Commission acted on several land-use items: it approved an extension of time for a mini-storage special-use permit, recommended a rezoning to city council for an industrial warehouse project, and approved two separate special-use permits to allow single-family dwellings in R-3 zoned lots.
Staff described SUP 59-2023 as an extension to allow construction to start for a 125,000-square-foot mini-storage facility proposed at 6356 North Simmons Street on a 3.44-acre site, with 724 proposed units and 69 RV/boat parking spaces; staff recommended the extension and the commission approved it after the applicant, Sheldon Colon, indicated agreement with an added condition.
For ZN-152025, LM Construction requested reclassification of 9.13 acres at 2903 North Martin Luther King Boulevard from PUD to M-2 to allow an industrial development. Applicant Jason Vossmer described plans for a 155,000-square-foot, single-story concrete tilt-up office/warehouse divisible into three tenant spaces. Staff noted required roadway improvements (a combined right-turn and bus turn lane per RTC) and landscaping updates; the commission voted to recommend approval to city council (final action rests with the council).
On neighborhood home requests, SUP 504-2025 (Ramirez residence) — for a lot on McCarran Street approximately 255 feet south of East Cary Avenue — was approved with conditions; applicant Juan Ramirez confirmed the dwelling will be his primary residence. SUP 552-2025 (Soriano residence) was initially tabled so the applicant could consult with staff and receive Spanish-language assistance, then resumed later in the meeting and approved with conditions.
