Council approves several employee compensation ordinances and proclaims Child Abuse Prevention Month

WICKLIFFE, Ohio ' The Wickliffe City Council approved a series of compensation and personnel ordinances on March 23, and adopted a proclamation declaring April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
On third readings council adopted Ordinances 2026-06 (compensation for appointed officials), 2026-07 (certain salaried and hourly employees), 2026-08 (part-time public safety dispatchers), 2026-09 (amended part-time firefighter compensation to correct a prior accounting error), 2026-10 (compensation for certain city employees) and 2026-11 (special police officers). The finance director explained the 2026-09 amendment corrected an incorrect account from prior years and adjusted hourly wage entries.
Council also read and adopted Resolution 2026-03, proclaiming April 2026 Child Abuse Prevention Month; the resolution was read into the record and adopted after a motion to suspend rules.
In new business the clerk noted receipt of a liquor-license transfer request for a business at 29114 Euclid Avenue; because the councilmember for that ward was absent, the record indicated the two at-large councilmembers would review and approve or disapprove the transfer if no objections were raised.
All of the listed ordinances were adopted by roll-call votes during the meeting; no substantive amendments or referenda were recorded in the meeting minutes.
