Planning Director Michael Henke said the route along the highway would protect more of the north fields and would align with a previously submitted city position; he cautioned that the highway-adjacent route could be more costly because it affects more structures. Council members raised concerns that routing through the north fields could fragment wildlife habitat and affect water quality, and noted a proposed municipality for the north fields remains on hold until a feasibility study is funded.
Mayor Craig Simons and Council Member Kevin Payne discussed meeting with Wasatch County leadership to coordinate the city response. The council instructed staff to review the draft and meet Friday, March 6 at 12:00 p.m. in the Community Center to finalize Midway’s position.
