Board staff presented maps showing light industrial zoning surrounding the site and said the master thoroughfare plan designates Southeastern 289 as a freeway and East Slayton Road as a minor arterial. No members of the public spoke in favor or opposition during the public hearing.
After closing public comment, the board moved and voted 8–0 to send the recommendation to city council for an initial hearing on March 24, 2026, at 2 p.m. The board’s recommendation is advisory; the city council has the final vote on the rezoning.
The board’s action follows staff findings that rezoning to any commercial district would conform to the property’s future land use designation and that the proposed change would be compatible with nearby arterial and freeway designations. The item will appear on the council agenda for its first reading on March 24.
