Summary
Councilmember Anderson reported the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy approved a $760,000 Prop 4 grant to acquire the Triumpho Creek Watershed, securing open space near Lady Face Mountain and improving trail connectivity to MRCA Triunfo Canyon Open Space.
Councilmember Anderson told the Agoura Hills City Council on March 25 that the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy approved a $760,000 grant from Proposition 4 funding to acquire the Triumpho Creek Watershed.
Anderson said the parcel — described as a “red little puzzle piece” on a presentation map — is on the south side of Lady Face Mountain in unincorporated Los Angeles County and was purchased out of bankruptcy from the county. She said the acquisition secures open space for the western approach to a wildlife corridor and will create trail connections to the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority (MRCA) Triunfo Canyon open space.
The council received the update as part of intergovernmental and special-purpose committee reports. Anderson described the grant as a conservation win that will protect habitat and expand regional trail connectivity.
Councilmembers did not take formal action on the report during the March 25 meeting; the item was an informational update from the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy advisory committee.
