The Council continued consideration of a proposed second plat map amendment for the Cozens Subdivision (840 South Stringtown Road, RA-1-43) after staff and neighbors raised concerns about reducing the floodplain setback from 50 to 25 feet.
Planning staff noted the site’s steep slope and that the request aimed to provide buildable area, while neighbors raised concerns about precedent and effects on adjacent properties. Applicant Glen Lent said he needs flexibility for a safe turnaround and to orient the house toward the west; he indicated he did not yet have house plans. Council asked the applicant to meet with the Planning Director and City Engineer to define a building envelope showing only the portion of setback that would be adjusted and to return with plans for Council consideration.
