Senate passes multiple bills on consent calendar and confirms parole-board nominees

On the consent calendar the Senate adopted House Bill 12-34 (access to records of child abuse or neglect) on second reading and ordered it to third reading and final passage. The chamber then took up a series of third-read items with minimal floor debate: House Bill 12-53 and House Bill 11-45 were each read for final passage and approved by the body (HB 12-53 recorded as 31 yeas, 2 nays; HB 11-45 recorded as 25 yeas, 8 nays).
The Senate also considered and adopted the sunset continuation bill House Bill 11-86 (regulation of specified bail bonding agents under Article 23 of Title 10, Colorado Revised Statutes).
The chamber confirmed three nominees to the State Board of Parole—Catherine Rodriguez of Denver, Rodrigo Lewano of Henderson, and Greg Saiz of Wheat Ridge—by voice vote. Senator Wallace, who supported the confirmations, noted that the department of parole is delayed on parole plans and encouraged improved timeliness so rehabilitated people can return to communities.
After these actions the Senate laid over the remainder of the calendar until Monday, April 6 and recessed until 12:00 p.m.
