Planning commission approves a slate of rezonings, special-use permits and code tweaks; one item continued

At its Nov. 12 meeting the North Las Vegas Planning Commission approved several zoning and permit requests and recommended others for city council action.
Highlights included forwarding a reclassification to M-1 Business Park Industrial (ZN122025) for a Trade Drive site to allow three small warehouse buildings; approving a special-use permit to allow outdoor manufacturing and welding operations at 908 Sharp Circle (SUP4332025); approving a full-on-sale liquor use for Agave Esau at 1108 E. Lake Mead Blvd (SUP412025); and forwarding multiple residential applications on Long Mountain and North 5th (AMP102025, ZN102025 and TMAP092025) that would return a corner from neighborhood commercial to single-family low density and create a 20-lot tentative map.
Staff also presented ZOA012025, a zoning-ordinance amendment proposing updated separation distances and operating standards for vehicle-dependent uses, new liquor-use categories and changes to the parking-waiver process (moving waiver review to public works traffic-study approvals). Commissioners recommended forwarding the code amendments to city council with a positive recommendation.
One item — a proposed vehicle/boat/RV service facility at 1570 W. Cheyenne Ave (SUP442025) — was continued because the applicant was not present and commissioners requested the applicant attend the next hearing to answer questions about the operation and design.
