Trustees voted 7–0 to adopt the six strategic goals that have guided College Station ISD since 2021, after a presentation noting the goals will drive district and campus improvement planning for the coming year.
The College Station Independent School District Board of Trustees voted 7–0 to adopt the district's six strategic goals for one more year after a presentation explaining how the goals inform campus and district improvement planning.
Jeff Mann, who presented the district improvement plan goals, told trustees the goals have guided work since the 2021 adoption and recommended keeping them in place for the coming year. "I'm coming to you tonight to ask for you guys as a board to give us one more year under these six goals," Mann said, describing the goals as the framework for campus improvement plans and summer planning work.
Mann outlined the six strategic goals, including improving instructional practices through personalized learning, elevating outcomes for historically underperforming student groups, strengthening relationships with local businesses and higher-education partners, and improving the district's technology ecosystem. He said the goals were reviewed by the District Educational Improvement Committee (DEIC), which voted 19–0 in favor of recommending the goals to the board.
Trustees discussed monitoring and reporting on progress toward the goals. A trustee asked when the board would next receive a formal update on progress; Mann said monitoring data are provided to DEIC and published online, but he would check when a formal board presentation last occurred.
The board approved the recommendation by motion (moved by Doctor Payne and seconded by Ms. Simmons, as announced on the record) and the chair announced the motion passed 7–0. The vote clears the way for staff and campus teams to use the goals in developing campus improvement plans ahead of the next school year.
