Mr. Hauman presented an overview of the Virginia Department of Education’s updated accountability models and how school performance will be evaluated across mastery, growth and readiness.
He explained the indicators—SOL/VAAP performance, student growth calculations, chronic absenteeism, graduation rates and the 3E Readiness framework—and walked board members through how points are calculated and summed to determine school performance categories. Mr. Hauman noted the state was still validating results and that final school ratings had not been released; schools received resources to interpret preliminary data.
Board members thanked Mr. Hauman for his presentation. The minutes show no formal board action on accountability at this meeting; staff will continue to monitor VDOE updates and guidance.
