Volunteer exhibitor thanks city as Loblolly train display returns to the depot

George Ellis, owner and longtime operator of the Loblolly model-train display, presented to the Nacogdoches City Council on Nov. 19 and invited residents to the exhibit at the historic depot beginning the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Ellis said the display will run for nine days across three consecutive three-day weekends and has drawn 1,500 to 1,600 visitors in prior years. He credited city leaders and depot staff, named several volunteers and staff (including Veronica Amo and JR Carruthers) and said the display includes a scavenger hunt and businesses featured on the layout.
Council presented a small token of appreciation. The presentation was informational; no council action was required.
