Culpeper school board approves $25 million Literary Fund loan for Mountain Run Elementary, sets FY2027 budget schedule

Superintendent Anthony Brads told the board the Invitation for Bid for Mountain Run Elementary (formerly Elementary School #7) was released Oct. 6 and is posted on the division website and the eVA procurement portal. The county approved a resolution Oct. 7 acknowledging the $25 million loan at a 3% interest rate, Brads said. An optional pre-bid meeting is scheduled for Oct. 14 at Eastern View High School and bid openings are set for Nov. 4 at 2:00 p.m.; a tentative groundbreaking is planned for Nov. 14, 2025, with time to be determined.

Votes at a glance: the loan resolution passed unanimously. The meeting record indicates the Consent Agenda (minutes, payroll and bills, and tuition rates) was also adopted by unanimous vote earlier in the meeting.
Next steps: bidders may attend the optional pre-bid meeting Oct. 14; bids will be opened Nov. 4. The board’s construction and procurement schedule will determine the formal groundbreaking date and subsequent contract awards.
