Mayor says rumors of convention center or ICE facility in Farragut are false

At the end of the March 19 meeting the mayor addressed residents to dispel two recurring rumors: that the town planned a convention center and that an ICE detention facility would be built in Farragut.
"That is totally wrong," the mayor said, stating neither project is on the town's agenda. He said the town lacks the infrastructure to support a large convention center and that circulating claims linking the town to an ICE facility are false and tend to surface during election cycles.
The mayor said the only large complex currently underway in Farragut is an elementary school behind Old Ingalls and encouraged residents to rely on official meeting agendas and staff communications for accurate information.
