Pearl River County supervisors approve routine personnel moves, payments and grant actions

The Pearl River County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 2, 2026, unanimously approved a slate of routine business motions that included personnel changes, vendor payments, grant acceptances and scheduling for a county hazardous-waste collection day.
District 4 Supervisor Jason Spence moved to approve the Jan. 21, 2026 meeting minutes and District 5 Supervisor Bryce Lott seconded; the board voted aye: Donald Hart, Malcolm Perry, Cruz Russell, Jason Spence and Bryce Lott. The board also approved the claims docket for Feb. 2, 2026 (motion by Lott, second by Hart) with the same unanimous roll call.
On personnel matters, District 3 Supervisor Cruz Russell moved (seconded by Spence) to move William Harry III from full-time to part-time correctional officer effective Jan. 18, 2026, and to grant Carolyn Robinson maternity leave beginning Feb. 8, 2026, for 12 weeks; the motion passed unanimously.
The board authorized the Sheriff's Office to apply for the FY24 Byrn Memorial Justice Assistance Grant and to sign required paperwork (moved by Russell, seconded by Spence) and approved acceptance of an MDAH match grant for the sheriff's office with an allotted reimbursement of $5,642.97 and a total project cost of $7,143.00 (moved by Donald Hart, seconded by Spence).
Elections and procurement actions included the board's approval to accept quotes for election day ballots for the Democratic and Republican federal primary elections scheduled March 10, 2026, and issuance of a purchase order to Absolute Solutions for $8,308.35 as the lowest and best quote (motion by Spence, second by Russell).
On county infrastructure and payments, the board authorized reimbursement to Pearl River County Utility Authority of $62,916.91 for Request #7 on MCWI ARPA Project No. 254-2-CW5.5 (Millard Jail Wastewater Treatment Facility improvements) (moved by Bryce Lott, seconded by Spence) and approved pay application No. 5 to Clymer Contracting for $145,392.75 on the PRC Tech Park Spec. Building Project (moved by Spence, seconded by Lott). The board also approved a $4,084.52 payment to the county's Capital One Spark Business Card due Feb. 20, 2026 (moved by Lott, seconded by Spence).
Planning and personnel actions in Planning & Development included approval to name a private road Freedom Acres Drive (motion by Donald Hart, second by Bryce Lott), hiring Sarah Bolin as a part-time employee effective Feb. 3, 2026, and approval of nominal permit fee increases (all motions approved unanimously).
In tax office business, the board acknowledged renewals of official bonds and oaths for Deputy Tax Collectors Taylor Archer, Brooke Anderson and Erynn Hoda, and approved hiring Jeffery Lossett as a full-time appraiser effective Feb. 9, 2026 (motion by Jason Spence, second by Donald Hart).
Road Department items included acknowledging bond and oath renewals for foremen Chris Johnson, Josh Beckham and Troy Dedeaux, accepting the retirement of full-time truck driver Malcolm Croas effective Feb. 1, 2026, and approving updates to the road paving list and order of completion; the board also acknowledged the monthly paving report for January 2026 (motions by Cruz Russell, second by Donald Hart).
The board approved scheduling a Household Hazardous Waste Day on March 7, 2026, in the Pearl River County Health Department parking lot and authorized the Board President to sign a reimbursement request for the MDEQ Solid Waste Grant SW1417. An update of grants and billings presented by Katie Johnson was recorded but no action was taken on that specific update.
All motions noted in the official minutes were recorded as approved with the five supervisors voting aye and no nays noted. The board directed the County Administrator to post a notice of the recess and recessed until the next scheduled meeting on Feb. 18, 2026.
