Council adopts ordinance establishing restricted donation fund for Eagle Scout park project

Park & Recreation Board President Christine Prior and Eagle Scout candidate Ryan Kelly asked the council to establish a restricted donation fund to receive gifts for an Eagle Scout project to install sunshades and landscaping near the splash pad and playground.
Council considered Ordinance 2026-03, which cites IC 3-1-3-6 and designates Fund 4107-166 (Dubois County Park Eagle Scout Donation Fund) to receive donations restricted to the project. The ordinance specifies authorized uses (sunshade structures and landscaping at playground and splash pad areas), requires the Park Board to disburse funds with council appropriation, directs remaining balances to designated park enhancements on project conclusion, and mandates closure of the fund once donated funds are exhausted.
Meredith Voegerl moved to approve Ordinance 2026-03; Doug Uebelhor seconded and the ordinance carried unanimously. Park Board President Prior also told the council that online reservations for campsites and shelter houses will be mandatory beginning in 2027.
