Manchester students chosen for Indiana All‑State Honor Choir; district celebrates solo and ensemble sweep

Sharon Lavin, invited to the meeting to present the recognition, introduced the students by name and described the competitive statewide audition process. She said Manchester secured five of the region’s 18 All‑State slots from a pool of 41 area auditionees. "It's a jaw‑dropping experience" to hear top voices join, she said, and noted the All‑State conductor brings expertise back to local programs.
Lavin also reported district results for solo and ensemble: 43 students participated across grades 7–12 with 32 solos and five ensembles; at district competition all entries earned gold ratings and 17 events advanced to state, where they also earned gold. The presenter credited rigorous judging at the state level and praised the students’ academic and extracurricular commitments.
Board members applauded the students and asked informal questions about family influences and future events. The board noted upcoming performances including the Wabash County Honor Choir and Band concert at the Honeywell Center and encouraged community attendance.
The board’s recognition noted the role of school staff and volunteers in preparing students and underscored the district’s continued support for music and fine‑arts programming.
