The finance update noted a Direct Fitness Solutions invoice of $81,225.70 tied to a Cameron grant for a new weight room and AV work, $3,258.19 in Harbor Freight purchases for career programs, and a $485.50 Stroh Orchards charge for fresh fruit. The superintendent told the board the district’s major and minor funds remain in good shape and outlined referendum spending totals.
Board members asked operational questions about HVAC vendor use and whether the district will seek the best price by expanding vendor choices. The board moved to accept financial claims and reports; the motion carried by voice vote.
On personnel, the board approved two resignations, five hires and three volunteers. The agenda included adding the hiring of Jackie Patton as high school webmaster; the board approved that addition and accepted the personnel slate. Administrators also described a one-year spring sports supervisor (assistant AD) position to provide event coverage across baseball, softball, track and golf; the role was described as a one-season, one-year opening under the master contract.
The board also approved switching Visa payments to ACH to reduce check theft and processing delays, and approved a resolution to expand a retirement classification so an athletic director without teacher certification can continue to receive retirement contributions through the teacher retirement system. Several community donations were accepted: $1,000 from the Angola Kiwanis Club for backpacks; $250 from Walmart to Fremont High for post-prom; $1,000 from Cardinal IG for girls basketball; $4,000 from Chuck McDowell for state basketball expenses; $2,000 from Community Health Systems for athletic sponsorship; $450 from Steuben County Wrestling Club for mat equipment; and anonymous gifts of $6,000 and $1,000 for tournament and team support.
Board members publicly thanked community donors and coaches for supporting student activities. Administrators said they will proceed with implementing the ACH payment change and the revised retirement classification.
