The Richardton-Taylor 34 board discussed proposed security upgrades for the Taylor portable building, including adding fob access, a buzzer tied to the main office and camera monitoring. Principal (S3) said quotes differ by vendor and recommended adding a buzzer that would ring the main office so the portable classroom is not disturbed.
S3 explained the currently quoted package would add fob access to the portable's south and north doors and integrate camera access so office staff "can see who's trying to buzz into the portable." The board heard that Viking Glass may need to replace a door that cannot be retrofitted and that New Vision Security and other vendors were expected to submit quotes.
Board members decided to table a final purchase decision until staff can gather a more workable quote and present it at the next meeting. The board emphasized the need for the buzzer to alert the main office — not the portable — to avoid classroom disruptions.
