Board discusses budget pressures and state-aid litigation as longtime administrator announces retirement

The committee also updated the board on the 2026–27 budget timeline. Board staff said the tentative budget must balance; actuarial information expected in March will likely change the tentative filing and the superintendent warned that the combination of increased costs may ultimately require reductions in staff.
The board was reminded that an April 30 public forum will serve as the public opportunity to review the budget. No final budget vote occurred at this meeting; the administration said adjustments are expected once actuarial and other data are received.
