Summary
The district’s HIB coordinator reported 12 confirmed harassment, intimidation and bullying incidents in the first half of the school year — down from 30 in 2022–23 and 21 in 2023–24 — with most confirmed cases in middle and high schools, the board was told.
The Brick Township Board of Education heard a Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) report showing a decline in confirmed incidents for the first half of the 2025–26 school year.
"For a total for the first half of the year is a 12," HIB coordinator Mr. Rabone told the board, listing 0 confirmed incidents at preschool, 1 at Osborneville Elementary, seven total among middle schools (six at Lake Riviera, one at Veterans Middle) and four at the high-school level (three at Brick Township High School and one at Brick Memorial High School).
Rabone said the district previously logged 30 confirmed cases in the comparable period in 2022–23 and 21 in 2023–24, and credited anti-bullying specialists, principals and staff training for the downward trend. He described the investigative process as sometimes extensive — noting some investigations include 15 to 30 pages of documentation — and said the district reports HIB numbers to the board in closed session and makes a public presentation to the board during open session.
Board members acknowledged the drop in confirmed cases. "I cannot begin to — the decrease in HIBs — like, I cannot with how amazing that is," board member Fran said, praising staff and students for increased awareness and reporting.
The presentation and supporting materials will be posted on the district website under HIB, the board was told, and Rabone said staff will continue training and monitoring so the district can maintain or improve the trend.
No formal action was required; the board received the report and placed it on file.
