Anna EDC manager reports trade-show traction, developer outreach and 9% December sales-tax uptick

Siddle said she and colleagues attended the ICSC Red River trade show in San Antonio from Feb. 17 to Feb. 19 and that "there was some great traction there" with many visitors to the booth. She listed follow-up activity: "We did have 13 real estate developer meetings, we had 5 BRE contacts, [and] 4 predevelopment meetings," and she noted the EDC added "5 new subscribers to our newsletter" and "14 new contacts."
Siddle also highlighted local promotional efforts: the EDC hosted a downtown branding committee kickoff and launched a small-business video series (the first episode featured Kevin from Country Charm). She encouraged board members to help spread word of the governor's Small Business Summit on April 2 in Allen and asked that members promote the event to local businesses.
On finance metrics, Siddle said, "Overall sales tax for the month of December, was up 9%," and she framed the spike as a positive indicator while urging continued business outreach. She also previewed the Shirley Farms groundbreaking scheduled for March 24 (3'4 p.m., before the council meeting) and reminded the board of the Anna Career Connections Day at Anna High School.
A board member thanked Siddle and staff for keeping the EDC visible and informed. The board subsequently moved into closed session for attorney consultation and to discuss real property, personnel and economic-development negotiations before returning to open session and adjourning at 7:28 PM.
