Board tables naming recommendation for Natural Springs dog park after resident presentation

The Anna Parks and Recreation Advisory Board on Aug. 20 tabled consideration of a proposed name for the Natural Springs dog park after resident testimony and questions about documentation.
Jeff Reath, acting director of community services, introduced the item and said the naming-policy packet was provided in board materials. Andrew Macrina, a resident who said he moved to Anna in 2010 and who has worked with service dogs, described past council decisions and his personal effort to track the dog park project’s status. "I went to the city and I requested documentation...and found out that the city council passed a deal to build a dog park in 2015," Macrina said, noting the park was budgeted in previous cycles but was never built.
Board members discussed the proposed name presented in the materials (transcript: "Clearleaf Chest") and asked Macrina for supporting documents. Given uncertainties and a busy upcoming joint meeting schedule in November, a Committee member (S4) moved to table the naming recommendation to a future meeting; another member seconded the motion. The board voted by roll call with David, Keenan, Alastair and the chair recorded as yes; the motion carried.
The board did not vote on an official name or forward a name recommendation to council. Staff said the item will be brought back at a future meeting (likely December) when documentation and schedule availability can be confirmed.
