Council members debated a proposal to rename the mayor's office as a shared council office. Proponents said a shared office will provide a private, bookable space for council and staff to meet with developers and conduct sensitive business; opponents cautioned that the space has historically been associated with the mayor and urged respect for any personal items. The transcript records the final vote to change the office name as 5–1, with Councilman Totten identified as the sole no vote.
In other governance business, the council approved appointments to the parks board recommended by an interview committee: Madeline Madrid (Place 2), Sherry Sachs (Place 5) and Scott Gentry (Place 6). The combined appointments were approved by roll call.
After a closed session held under provisions of the Texas Government Code, the council reconvened and a motion was made and seconded to approve an extension of the existing city manager agreement until Feb. 28, 2026, subject to approval of the amendment as to legal form. The presiding officer announced the motion passed; the transcript records the motion as passing with five affirmative votes.
