Anna parks board re-elects chair, tables Paw Park renaming and asks council for memorial guidelines

Board members and attendees discussed alternatives, including creating memorial stones or plaques and setting a consistent policy to avoid ad hoc namings. "I foresee too many people with amazing attachments trying to, you know, please name the park after my animal," David said, urging a neutral memorial approach rather than reassigning park names.
Stan Carver, a council attendee, provided background on how the dog park was established and noted a neighbor had requested the renaming. Another attendee noted that Cleo was a registered service dog and had helped advance the park; several board members supported some form of recognition for service animals but stressed the need for written guidelines to manage precedent and maintenance concerns.
Board member David moved to table the renaming request and to recommend that city council establish memorial and renaming guidelines for park amenities; Sherry seconded the motion and the board carried it. The motion directs staff to return the issue to the board after council provides guidance on a formal policy for future memorials and renamings.
