"We were able to provide meals all summer long…we lost our USDA funding for the markets," the presenter said, urging the council to continue town support. Council members debated whether the money should come from a special revenue account tied to social services, a trust fund, or the general grants/contributions line; after discussion the council approved a $5,000 appropriation and directed staff to explore available special revenue or shared‑services accounts.
Separately, the council approved $3,000 each for Memorial Day activities and for stewardship support of the town‑owned Warren Armory. Councilors noted the armory is a town asset and the modest contribution offsets utility and upkeep costs maintained by volunteers.
Council members asked staff to work with the planner and budget committee to identify sustainable funding sources and to seek outside grants where possible.
