The Goochland County Economic Development Authority approved several event sponsorships on March 18.
Emily Melheiser, chief development officer for Futures, requested a $1,000 "Signature Swing" sponsorship for the nonprofit’s fifth-annual golf tournament; the EDA voted to increase the sponsorship and approved $2,500 after members described the event as a business-networking opportunity. The recording shows the motion passed with a 4–1 tally.
Separately, the board approved up to $1,000 in funding for the annual Business Appreciation event (scheduled for May 13) to cover hospitality (tickets) and outreach; staff said the expense will be paid from operating funds rather than the annual sponsorship/grant pool.
Members discussed branding placement (the EDA sought durable visibility such as award sponsorship for long-term recognition) and asked staff to coordinate sponsor deliverables and event logistics.
Staff and applicants will follow up with the EDA secretary to confirm invoice routing and sponsorship fulfilment.
