District says monopole cell tower work will occur during break to limit student exposure

A district administrator told the committee that preliminary work has begun at the site behind the bus garage for a monopole cell tower and that the contractor plans to pour the tower’s concrete foundation over spring break to minimize interaction with students.
"They're going to begin now starting next week when we have spring break… the first portion is to put in a concrete foundation and so that's supposed to happen over this spring break period," the administrator said. The district reported clearing for a roughly 50-by-50-foot footprint and emphasized the monopole’s small ground footprint compared with larger lattice towers; the pole will require a deep foundation.
The administrator said contractors agreed to avoid vehicle movements during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up windows and that the district will continue to coordinate timing with the contractor and notify staff and parents if plans change. Committee members asked about tree clearing and visual impact; the administrator said the area is already cleared and that the project will be staged to limit disruption.
No vote was recorded on the project during the meeting; the administrator asked to keep the board informed as work proceeds.
