Board staff presented the districtlevy estimate for fiscal year 2027, showing class-by-class assessed valuations and projected tax collections.
An unnamed presenter told the board the district's total assessed valuations are $3,962,809,000 and that tax-increment-financing properties reduce collections by a valuation of $149,088,000. The packet shows projected net tax collections from regular and excess levies of $47,451,942 for FY27, up about $2,958,004.87 (approximately 6.65%) compared with FY26's $44,493,455.
"When you remove the allowances for uncollectibles and discounts and tax increment financing, you get the projected net taxes of $21,185,000 for FY27 (regular levy)," the presenter said. For the excess levy the presenter gave projected net collections of $26,267,000.
A board member asked how the change in state calculations would affect the district's local share; the presenter said the district will not know the final local-share calculation until the State Auditor approves the proposed levy rates and issues the local-share figures. "I'll have to come back to you on that," the presenter said.
The presenter emphasized that assessed valuation changes come from the assessor's office and are not set or requested by the school board. The packet includes a five-year tax-profile and a projected increase in assessed valuations of $284,734,000 (7.74%) for 2027.
The board did not take a final vote on levy rates at the meeting; staff framed the session as statutory and indicated the item remains pending State Auditor approval.
