Webster School Committee approves field trip, accepts donation and declares boilers surplus

The committee voted to allow Webster Middle School fifth graders to travel to the Luce Center for the Arts in Woodstock, Connecticut, to attend a live opera performance. The motion was moved and seconded and the chair announced the motion passed.
The committee also voted to declare three Lochnavar boilers at Bartlett High School surplus and directed the superintendent or business manager to auction, donate, recycle or otherwise dispose of the equipment in accordance with Massachusetts procurement law (Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 30B). The acting business manager said the surplus items will be posted on COMMBUYS and advertised in the paper.
The district accepted a $2,230 donation from Hometown Bank, the acting business manager said, describing a bank promotion that directed $10 from qualifying new accounts to Webster Public Schools. The committee agreed to place the funds in the schools’ gift fund until a specific use is identified.
Separately, the committee approved a transfer request of $7,094.94 from the Webster Middle School activity savings account to the district checking account; the chair announced the motion passed after the usual move-and-second procedure.
