Freeburg trustees approve officer's request to carry over 76 vacation hours

The Freeburg Village Board on March 2 approved a motion allowing Police Officer Joel Boeving to carry over 76 hours of unused vacation time.
Trustee Elizabeth (Lisa) Meehling moved to approve Boeving's request and Trustee Dana Miller seconded. A roll call vote recorded six ayes, with Mayor Seth Speiser absent, and the motion carried.
Meehling, reporting for the Personnel/Police Committee, told trustees the department has an opening following the retirement of Sergeant Stan Ruhmann. "We have an opening with Sergeant Stan Ruhmann's who retire. We are working on that," Meehling said during the meeting.
Police Chief Mike Schutzenhofer updated the board that electrical work on the department's K-9 kennel has been completed and summarized roughly 100 calls since the last committee meeting. The committee also held an executive session to discuss personnel under 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1), according to the minutes; no personnel hires or appointments were recorded in the public portion of the meeting.
The board listed several upcoming meetings, including a Combined Planning and Zoning Board meeting March 10 and the next regular board meeting on March 16.
The motion to permit the carryover and the subsequent adjournment were the only formal votes recorded in the minutes from the March 2 meeting.
