The Mount Vernon City Schools board moved through its consent agenda March 16, approving minutes, curriculum and personnel items, multiple facility-use requests and a resolution to accept a classroom-facilities-assistance offer from the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission.
Early in the meeting the board approved the Feb. 17 minutes. The board then approved four curriculum items — including planned student travel (a 2028 London/Paris/Rome trip and attendance at the national FFA convention in Indianapolis) and college-credit-plus partnership agreements — after staff presentation and a motion to approve.
Fiscal items were presented and approved after finance staff explained a county auditor software overpayment described during the fiscal report. Business services presented several facility-use recommendations — including requests from Saint Vincent de Paul, local soccer groups and City of Mount Vernon neighborhood meetings — and a resolution accepting the OFCC Classroom Facilities Assistance Program Segment 1 award; the board approved those items and the superintendent was directed to submit required acceptance paperwork.
Student services brought a resolution declaring transportation impractical for one student who travels approximately 3 miles to a learning center; the board approved the resolution. Personnel and classified staff packets containing retirements, vacancies and new hires (including a transfer for Lisa Gregg to Mount Vernon High School and multiple substitute appointments) were approved by motion and vote.
Motions on routine items were moved, seconded and carried by roll call at multiple points in the agenda; the transcript records "motion carried" after the votes but does not provide a full per-member vote tally in the transcript. The meeting concluded with board members offering condolences and congratulations before adjourning.
