Developer proposes Maratoglou tennis center at Deer Creek Business Park; planning hearing set for April 20
Summary
A developer representing the Maratoglou sports brand presented plans for a multi-sport indoor complex (six indoor tennis courts, eight padel courts and four futsal courts) at Deer Creek Business Park; the project will go to the planning commission for a public hearing on April 20.
The council heard an introductory presentation for a proposed Maratoglou indoor sports complex to be located in the Deer Creek Business Park.
Joyce Ann Yelton of the Noblesville Planning Department introduced the item as an initial concept that will appear at the planning commission; she said the application will go to the planning commission on April 20 for a public hearing on a special consideration for recreational use in what is otherwise an industrial/business park. Yelton identified the proposed location as in the Deer Creek Business Park near the southeast intersection of 146th Street and the road listed in the application.
Tara Moore, representing the Maratoglou brand, said the facility would include "6 indoor tennis courts, 8 Padel courts" and "4 Futsal, indoor football, which is 5 a side." She said Maratoglou is an international tennis brand and that the developer hopes to bring high-level coaching and programming to the community. Moore said the developer will need planning and council approvals to proceed and gave an aggressive target opening timeline "later on in this year September, October time," contingent on approvals.
Yelton said this presentation was introductory and that the formal planning commission review and public hearing will provide more detailed project materials and a chance for public comment. No formal council action was taken on the proposal during the meeting.
