Council hears school-zone camera update, declines reimbursement request for 3rd Avenue bridge traffic; sets levy rate and forwards three items to Jan. 12

At the Dec. 8 workshop, Council President Kerry Garberding asked for an update on school zone cameras and Lieutenant Terry Carter provided the report recorded in the minutes.
Council Member Helms requested a detailed update on repairs to the 3rd Avenue Bridge; Council Member Petersen described the process. Helms asked whether the city would seek reimbursement for traffic congestion related to bridge work; Mayor Kave responded that most traffic used other routes and the city would not seek reimbursement.
Finance Director Beth Wright reported a revised final Ad Valorem levy rate of 0.77153 and scheduled the audit exit conference for Dec. 17 at 12:00 p.m., according to the minutes. The council, by consensus, forwarded three agenda items for first reading at the Jan. 12, 2026 meeting: AB25-155 (Ordinance 2025-2120, area-wide rezone), AB25-159 (Resolution 2025-1017, King County Parks Levy 2026–2031), and AB25-160 (Resolution 2025-1018, amendment to the council rules).
Council President Kerry Garberding adjourned the workshop at 7:56 p.m.
