Elks lodge presents equipment check to Clive Fire Department

Members of the Clive Elks lodge presented a check to the Clive Fire Department to help pay for equipment; Elks representatives said the donation helps offset recent state funding cuts.
Representatives of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks visited the council chambers Feb. 26 to present a donation to the Clive Fire Department.
"My name is Rich Kreitzinger. I am with the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks here in Clive," Kreitzinger told the council and introduced fellow Elks officers Chrissy Ellis (exalted ruler) and trustee Greg Weinshank before presenting the check. He said the donation will help the department acquire equipment and thanked firefighters for their service, noting recent state cuts of about $2.6 million to the city as background to the need for community support.
The mayor and council expressed appreciation. The chief accepted thanks on behalf of the department and staff noted the gift as timely in the context of upcoming budget deliberations.
