Marissa Smith of Gallagher briefed the committee that the initial benefits procurement closed with 27 separate submissions across medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, COBRA and point-solution vendors. "We have closed the initial procurement... We had 27 separate bid submissions that met the deadline," she said, adding the total includes point solutions and is not all medical bids.
Smith said Gallagher made active outreach to carriers, which produced more dental and vision responses than in prior procurements. She said medical and pharmacy will be prioritized for budget reasons and that Gallagher expects to present recommendations at the committee’s first May meeting to meet budget deadlines. She added the review process may include a question-and-answer period to refine submissions.
Committee members and staff discussed meeting sequencing among the committee, purchasing and budget offices — dates mentioned included April 14, May 7 and May 12 — and asked staff to confirm the calendar. Chair Phillips said staff will send a confirming email so the procurement timeline aligns with purchasing and budget deadlines.
The committee did not vote on vendor selection at this meeting; Gallagher will return with formal recommendations and staff will circulate confirmed meeting schedules.
