The Ware County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 8 received a request to close and abandon a 10-foot-wide alley in block 218 of the Emerson Park subdivision, a roughly 500-foot stretch that runs between Nevada Avenue and New Mexico Avenue.
Chairman Elmer Thrift said county staff reported there are no utilities located in the portion of alley under consideration. The board invited public comment; no one spoke in support or opposition. The board added the item to the regular meeting agenda for a future decision.
The public hearing record indicates the alley was platted Oct. 8, 1913. County staff will bring the closure request back to the board at its next regular meeting for formal action or further review.
