Senator James Kaufman reintroduced Senate Bill 163 on April 1, describing it as an administrative follow-up to a process established in an earlier legislature (SB25) to identify inactive funds and accounts for elimination. "Items identified by lehi finance and the the bill, essentially just deletes unnecessary accounts," Kaufman said, framing the bill as a housekeeping measure to reduce accounting complexity.
The Chair confirmed the bill had been first heard March 23 with public testimony and fiscal notes taken and that no amendments were forthcoming for this session. Committee members raised no questions. Senator Stedman moved SB163 (version G) from committee with individual recommendations and attached fiscal notes; there was no objection and the bill passed from committee with those recommendations.
The bill will proceed to its next committee referral for further consideration; committee passage was by unanimous consent with no roll-call vote recorded.
