Weber County staff seeks $6,000 to finish landfill-closure study review

Sean Wilkinson presented the landfill-closure study update at the 3:00 PM session on March 9. "They're asking for an additional $6,000 that will take them through June 30 year, which will get them the information they need to submit back to the state and hopefully finalize this process," Wilkinson said, explaining that the additional funds will allow consultants to provide the responses the state requested.
Wilkinson said the state has outlined the information it needs and staff are hopeful the additional work will allow early termination of the county's post‑closure care obligations for the transfer-station landfill, though he acknowledged there is always the possibility of additional review rounds. Commissioners were told the item will appear on the formal agenda at the next meeting for action.
Commissioners generally supported completing the requested work given the modest cost and noted the item would be on the agenda for formal approval.
