Committee approves leases with FoodRight and Carmen High School and waives policy for CyberSoft contract

The Committee on Accountability, Finance and Personnel approved multiple consent and action items including a nonprofit lease, short lease extensions for charter operations and a waiver to issue an information‑technology contract.

The committee approved a lease with Milwaukee nonprofit FoodRight to store culinary equipment at Golda Meir School between school visits; interim chief operations officer Michael Turza said the nonprofit provides cooking and garden‑based nutrition education to students and families and is funded by grants.

Directors also approved one‑month extensions for Carmen High School of Science and Technology locations at Walker Complex, Northwest Secondary and Pulaski High School, allowing each site to operate summer programming through July 31, 2026; administration said the extensions give the schools continuity for summer classes and preparation time for next year.

On contracts, the committee voted to waive Administrative Policy 3.09 to issue a professional services contract to CyberSoft Technologies for school menu planning and nutrition reporting software; administration said the software will help the district maintain federal and state compliance and should be in effect by the first day of school September 1, 2026 if implemented as planned.

All motions relating to these items passed by roll call votes of 5‑0. The administration said staff will coordinate logistics for building access and any needed furniture or equipment, and that FoodRight and Carmen’s arrangements are funded or limited by existing grants or prior approvals.

The approvals were part of a meeting that also included an extended discussion of procurement controls, encumbrances and audit implementation work.
