The Everett School Committee on Jan. 20 handled routine governance matters with unanimous roll‑call votes.
The committee accepted a $55,000 Glean continuation grant intended to provide stipends and materials supporting literacy pacing guides. "This grant will provide some stipends to support our teachers in creating pacing guides..." a superintendent representative said during the request. The committee also approved disposal of 40 broken chairs with attached desks at Everett High School.
The proposed 2026–27 district calendar was accepted after committee members confirmed teacher association compliance. On finance items, the committee voted to submit and pay two bills and payroll packages: $1,538,844.96 (12/30/2025) and $3,091,721.92 (01/14/2026); motions to submit and to pay were made, seconded and approved by roll call.
On appointments, the committee unanimously appointed Samantha Hurley to the Shore Collaborative board, Joanna Guerin as the MASC delegate, and Robin Babcock as student advisory liaison. Each nomination was seconded, taken by roll call and recorded as unanimous.
The meeting concluded with a motion to enter executive session to discuss strategy regarding pending MCAD litigation and other potential litigation; the committee entered executive session at 8:16 p.m.
