Palm Beach County names Green Cay Learning Center after retiring Chief Deputy Administrator Todd Von Lahren

In brief remarks after the vote, Von Lahren thanked the board, county staff and his family and described Green Cay as “a place that is special to me” reflecting long-term work on water-treatment and learning‑center projects. He told the commission he plans to remain connected to the county and to continue mentoring and consulting where possible.
Administrator Abruzzo and representatives of the Florida Association of Counties presented a commemorative gift and played a short video honoring Von Lahren’s statewide contributions. The chamber then took photographs with Von Lahren and his family.
Next steps: the commission completed the recognition and resumed the scheduled workshop on housing policy. No fiscal action tied directly to the naming motion was recorded on the dais at the time of the vote.
